About HomeInspectorNear
Radon testing and mitigation in Illinois, Pennsylvania and Colorado, built from each state's own license list, and home inspector licensing rules. 48 radon mitigation businesses have a full listing (Illinois 17, Pennsylvania 31); the state tables show every mitigation business on the Illinois and Pennsylvania lists and every Colorado license.
Who runs it
HomeInspectorNear is published by Red Dragon Leads, a small independent company that publishes a group of directory websites. Pages are written and checked by the HomeInspectorNear editorial desk, which also handles listings, corrections and questions. HomeInspectorNear is not owned by, or a front for, any business it lists. Write to editor@homeinspectornear.com and it reaches the desk directly; our contact page says what to write to us about.
What it is for
Homeowners, buyers and sellers use HomeInspectorNear after a radon test: to read the number against EPA's lines, to find a mitigator whose state license they can check, and to learn what the state requires in a sale.
Where the facts come from
- Illinois: the IEMA-OHS Radon Active Licensee Listing, read October 15, 2026 (622 active licensees).
- Pennsylvania: the DEP Radon Services Directory, edition of October 1, 2026 (137 mitigation and 659 testing rows).
- Colorado: DORA's Professional and Occupational Licenses file on data.colorado.gov, read October 15, 2026.
- Rules: state statutes and rule texts, state radon program pages and US EPA guidance, each quoted briefly and matched against its page before it publishes.
- Home inspector license counts: the Illinois IDFPR, Connecticut DCP and Delaware DPR files on each state open data portal.
- Business details: each listed business's Google profile (phone, address, rating) and its own website (the radon work it names, prices it prints), with the date we read them.
Each state list shows the date we read it; each rule shows the date its source was read; each listing shows when its website and price were read. The full method is on how we verify listings.
What decides a listing
A business gets its own listing page only when it is on the Illinois or Pennsylvania radon list for mitigation, is based in that state, matches its Google profile by the phone the list prints (a person named on the list is never matched by name), and carries a fact from its own side: the radon work it names on its own website, or a price it publishes. Holding a second license on the same list does not count on its own. Every other business on the list appears in the state table with its license numbers. Colorado publishes people, not companies, so its licenses appear in a table and no Colorado business has a page yet.
What it is not
- Not a contractor or a referral service. We test nothing, install nothing and pass on no requests.
- Not a licensing agency. The state list has the final word on a license; we link it on every page.
- Not medical advice. Health wording is EPA's and the state programs', quoted with a link.
Independence and money
Nothing is sold yet. No business can pay for a listing, its order, its badges or its license data. If sponsorships open later, they will be labeled and kept apart from every list, and the rules will be posted on our how we make money page first. The details are on how we make money.
Editorial policy
- Every rule, figure and definition is a short quote from the statute, rule or agency page it comes from, rewritten in plain words beside a link and the date we read it. A rule we cannot source is left out.
- We use software, including AI tools, to collect and check public data, and people review its work.
- Ratings and review counts are copied from each business's public Google profile. We write, collect and edit no reviews.
- Prices appear only as a business prints them for its own work, never averaged; a range needs five or more businesses.
- Possible conflict of interest: Red Dragon Leads, which publishes HomeInspectorNear, also runs local websites that pass calls for mold, foundation, crawl space, water treatment and a few other home repair jobs to contractors who pay for them. Being a Red Dragon Leads customer changes nothing on HomeInspectorNear: no place in a list, no badge and no link.
- Errors are fixed and dated on our corrections page.
Corrections
If something here is wrong, email editor@homeinspectornear.com with the page and what should change. A business can also update or claim its own listing. We check each correction against a public source or the business itself, fix what is wrong, and date the change on our corrections page. A business that leaves its state list leaves its listing at our next read of the list. A business Google marks as permanently closed is taken off. A business that asks to be removed is removed the same day.
